new farm house

context

The house was to be modestly scaled, easy to clean and have light filled spaces, natural ventilation and a feature a timber staircase.

solution

  • Every room has an opportunity: an interesting view, a special feature, a unique function.

  • The house is filled with natural light thanks to a generously scaled double height space at its core;

  • Large hardwood sliding doors with flush floor sills fully retract behind walls to directly connect the indoor living spaces with the outdoor living spaces, effectively doubling their size;

  • A white gloss, low maintenance kitchen conceals striking black cupboard & drawer interiors highlighted by a colour changing LED splashback;

  • The house features recycled grey ironbark feature walls, ceilings & stair sourced from a decommissioned hardboards' factory at Bundamba;

  • The polished concrete floor and honed concrete block walls add texture & an urban sculptural edge to soft native landscaping.
