geebung tower house renovation

This highset house is located in the quiet outer northern suburbs of Brisbane.  Typical of its type, the primary upper floor living areas were disconnected from the yard whilst under the house was not at a legal height for habitable rooms.

The owners required a new kitchen, bathroom and living area upstairs plus a rear deck.  They had also spent many years travelling and collecting objects & art requiring storage and display. A new carport, laundry and wine cellar were designed for the ground floor.

Internal space on the upper floor was limited, therefore a new external stair tower demarks the entry & arrival to the house. The upper floor was cleared out and a new kitchen now connects with a new rear deck & staircase.  The existing tile roof was extended and the entry tower was made of the recycled & matching bricks used in the original construction.
