The new administration building for the BMA Peak Downs Mine [North] mine site presented a unique opportunity to showcase best practice in prefabricated remote area construction with exceptional value for money and for a high quality design outcome.  The admin building already had a very internalised & inefficient design by others [refer drawing A0.4a] and we were able to quickly scrutinise the design brief and provide a clear, more cost effective design & construction solution. The new design features a raking exposed roof truss ceiling, modern open-plan office and meeting spaces and a new CRIB facility, facing landscaped gardens.  The core of the new building was an informal lounge and circulation space with the reception at one end.  Large open-plan workstation spaces folded off this space separated by meeting rooms, store rooms and amenity spaces.  Circulation was aligned to provide clear lines of sight through the building to other spaces and landscaped gardens beyond.
