context:
The Banksia Retreat is the ‘big brother’ of the neighbouring Pandanus Retreat.
opportunity:
While the program and spatial requirements of the two retreats were identical, the site’s geometry and council setback requirements allowed one of the internal blocks to be ‘broken’ and turned at right angles to address the second street frontage. This shift allows additional opportunities for breezes and enabled the primary sleeping suite to become larger and more private.
